Google Ad Manager: The most powerful way to PPC!
- Hyper targeting - I love how we can target, analyze, and then hyper target [advertisements] to our audiences to be able to hyper target the audiences that convert best. [Audiences besides] Google understands them, but also demographics, locations, search terms, and more.
- Advanced reporting - Without Google's seemingly endless ways to read and break down reports, we would not be able to best make decisions to maximize ROI.
- Strong conversion algorithm updates - The algorithm has become impressively strong for 'maximized conversions' and 'smart' campaigns. [That's] coming from someone who hated these portions of the algorithm until about 2019 where the updates (and continued updates) have worked incredibly well for these algorithms' purpose.
- Bumper Machine - While this is still in beta, there is a lot of room for improvement for the machine to pick proper clips. I'm sure that will come in time though.
- Inclusion of a Home Page Button - This is a simple request, truly, but one that bothers me everyday. I have a campaign home button, but it's not accessible unless you go back to the beginning of the platform. If the 'home' button was static, I'd be able to go to my preferred view with one click instead of having to loop around, as there isn't a trustworthy 'back button' option either.
- Display - This is a big one. I have a love/hate relationship with display campaigns and algorithms. I have seen where they can perform [strongly] but also be massive budget bleeds with little ROI. It's not very industry specific either so I'm hoping to gain more consistency and trust with the future of the display algorithm.
Easily Place Well-Targeted Ads and See Results
- High functionality and user friendly.
- Great on the back end to develop reports.
- Tracks many key metrics important to clients.
- Cross-team functionality would provide greater access.
Google Ad Manager Review
- Real-time and accurate performance metrics (impressions and CTRs)
- Targeting capabilities
- Control over creative assets and ad unit sizes
- Complex product, big learning curve for beginners

Google Ads Manager can add value to any business when used wisely
- If you are new to the platform, they will accommodate you by guiding you on how to create a basic ad easily.
- You can explore keyword search volumes and add it to your campaigns directly from within the platform.
- You can integrate Google Tag Manager so that you can define custom conversions and track it easily while ads are running.
- There is enough data available to view how well your ads are performing.
- I don't have any complaints. It's a complex product and they are doing a good job of accommodating all levels of users.
Google Ad Manager Review
- Manage multiple ads.
- Reporting capabilities.
- Integratable with Google products.
- Integrates well with marketing platforms.
- Targeting.
- Constant changes.
- More help videos.
- Better customer service line.
Powerful, Reliable and Free
- Flexible ad units.
- Control over creatives being displayed on your website.
- Metrics for impressions and CTRs.
- Targeting by user demographics and webpage.
- Not the easiest user experience for non-technical users.
- Needs a bit of trial and error to figure out the best fit.
- Ads take quite a bit of time to propagate to production.
Google Ad Manager Review
Ad Manager saves our teams large amounts of valuable time by letting them make adjustments to whole accounts, large groups of campaigns and keywords at once, rather than having to individually adjust each at a tedious pace.
- Fast adjustments to campaigns.
- Fast adjustments to geographies/targeting and copying those changes across multiple accounts.
- Quickly see errors/denied ads in one easy interface.
- Sometimes it can bog down and crash. This is rare, but it is processing a lot of steps/changes all at once and it's not expected to be perfect.
- Being able to quickly filter by campaign types would be nice (PPC/Display/Video Pre-roll). Our fix is to run these campaigns in totally separate accounts, so there is no overlapping in reporting/etc. This helps with seeing stats clearly without having to filter constantly.
- It could be visually prettier.
A great platform to help you manage your ads and increase ROI
- The Doubleclick manager is very intuitive and allows anyone without extensive experience to jump in and start managing ads.
- My favorite feature is it allows you to manage all of your ads in one place.
- The training and user forum knowledge is top-notch. I can always find the answer to any questions I have.
- Sometimes the tags are not reliable in certain browsers such as Microsoft Edge.
- Sometimes the server gets bogged down making everything slow and clunky.
- Not the most intuitive software. Luckily, there is a big user group to help you with problems.
Great program but could use a few tweaks
- Condenses Information
- Tracks clicks and opens
- Gives demographic info
- A little tricky to use at first. Could have better training options
- Would love for even more information to be provided
- Better mobile version

Simple and Effective
- GAM makes the data analyzation process seamless, they offer many different display types/charts and even allow us to run algorithms/machine learning on the data.
- GAM is constantly updated and has a strong release schedule for bugfixes, maintenance, and new features. Google seems to really care about this project.
- The reporting functionality is robust, allowing multiple query types that are even friendly to non-developers.
- Speed - I know its a website that's doing lots of data calculations, but there has to be a way to make this better. Even using enterprise internet solutions I have had a decent amount of lag from page inception to data displaying.
- API - When I wanted to pull a report to display on a backend system for a web application, the API was a bit complicated for doing a simple data extraction REST API pull.
- User Management - This has been a difficult aspect/pain point for us when we utilize sub-contractors or take on different clientele. Having different user permissions (or explaining how to implement it easily) would be a huge plus for us going forward.
Nobody ever lost their job for choosing Google Ad Manager
- Bid suggestions via machine learning: they save us a lot of time running analysis.
- Dashboards allow for effective turnkey presentations when reporting results to management.
- Google Ad Manager integrates with Analytics and provides a solution with easy setup.
- Only really suitable for business-class internet connections. Good luck loading the data on your phone without 80+ Mbps down.
- Could have a more robust API: we've had to make a lot of, "hackey" in house solutions to pull the data into our marketing automation software.
Best platform for ads for both for small and big businesses
- It extracts data that can help in future plans and campaigns of the brands. It tells us where we can improve.
- It forecasts data to show the right match and type of ads for our brands and campaigns. It's very customized and perfect for either big or small brands.
- There are a lot of options to choose from. It really helps in choosing the right platform and way to serve the ads for the campaigns.
- I think Google Ads Manager can improve on its interface. Needs easier options so brands won't have a hard time.
- Needs to extract better reports. The reports are sometimes confusing and hard to read, despite being very informative.
- Needs simpler data.
Can't go wrong with a well-established brand
- It allows you to change a lot of attributes for the line items.
- The report function is versatile, allowing different types of queries.
- It does not allow different user permissions. We have to pay for an order entry app/platform for order entry people to enter orders so they won't mess up with the system.
- The reports takes a long time to run.
- The reports lack visualizations.
- Some reports cannot be automated because some of the queries do not have enough dynamic dates options such as 'ends X days ago'.
Google Ads: The Only Choice for Us
- Interface. You can understand how to build the ads very easily. When you first begin, and throughout the process, there are little help icons which explain what you need to understand.
- Pricing. By this, I mean the ability to change it at any time. You can select a variable rate, or you can preset it. Either way, you can change how much you spend every second if you'd like. This makes it easier to control your budget if you need to make emergency purchases and don't have much space in your budget.
- Always growing. They are always announcing something new. Always growing and always trying to update.
- Support. Not that they don't call or offer help, it's that our account people are bullies. I tell them I don't have time, so I am insulted and told that I need to get in front of the laptop otherwise I have "failed the company." I have never had a situation where I wasn't bullied by our Ad reps. They don't respect or value our time, which can make their calls frustrating.
- Too quick on support. They don't take the time to understand the product. We are a preschool which shares a name with a popular motorcycle. An Ad rep insisted he knew the company so well that he could help me within five minutes. After being interrupted frequently, I just let him continue to tell me how I "could increase awareness of our aerodynamic seat design by creating ads with those keywords..."
- Better management of trademark keywords and program awareness. We switched over to a new site, the domain changed for about ten seconds. All of our ads were unapproved and put on pause. The email stated it would be fixed very quickly, but I had to go in for the last 3 days to reactivate each one individually.
The Integrated Ads Solution
- A robust native ad creation tool.
- Ad optimization suggestions.
- Granular data that integrates multiple platforms.
- It would be great if the tool enabled advertisers the ability to review and report brand/trademark infringement.
- Needs a custom ap (not the Google Ads app)
Google Ad Manager - Good to Use
Having said that, Google Ad Manager helps operations team to do all that on a day to day basis; we also integrate some of our data platforms into Google Ad Manager so we leverage both 1st and 2nd party data.
- The UI is very easy to understand. They have made some changes lately for good, I think
- The integration for 1st party data from other platforms is very transparent, allowing you to identify audiences via the internal code from the data platform itself
- The integration with Data Studio is something we love. This is pretty useful when presenting info to high level teams
- If you have a slow internet connection you might suffer
- Sometimes reports are so slow to load
- Internal processes, such as whitelisting external platforms, may take some time
Google Ad Manager brings in the leads
- The platform does a good job establishing a hierarchy of ad groups, ads keywords etc to make things easier to organize.
- Reporting is flexible and mostly easy to use.
- You can incorporate 3rd party info into buys to connect sales to spend.
- I think sometimes it needs a wizard or a template for certain actions to make it quicker to do.
- An easier way to clean up legacy issues in accounts.
- Sometimes it runs slow, even in Chrome.
